Sylvester's story

Navy Days

Sylvester spent the early part of WW2 on Robben Island, not in captivity like more famous names, but rather degaussing British ships so they could sail without triggering magnetic mines. Having seconded to the Royal Navy he sailed to the UK in a troop ship playing poker and drinking Coca Cola (he never touched a drop again) in preparation to being sent out to fight the Japanese and face the kamikaze pilots.
